Expert Florida Business Litigation Attorney David Steinfeld – In His Own Words…
I am David Steinfeld, Owner and Founder of the Law Office of David Steinfeld, P.L. I am Board Certified in Business Litigation Law by the Florida Bar, meaning I am an expert in that area. Out of the almost 100,000 attorneys in Florida, only about 230 are Board Certified in Business Litigation Law.
I also serve on the Florida Bar’s Certification Committee for Business Litigation and those sub-committees charged with proposing re-writes for Florida’s Corporate and Limited Liability Company Statutes.
In order to achieve Board Certification in business litigation, an attorney must complete a specific number of bench and jury trials and be substantially involved in a certain number of qualifying business litigation lawsuits to demonstrate competency. Attorneys must also pass a rigorous and thorough examination in business law and receive a satisfactory review from Judges before whom they practiced and attorneys against whom they have litigated, as well as others in the community.
I am also AV-Preeminent Peer Review Rated by the National firm of Martindale-Hubbell. AV-Preeminent is the highest peer recognition for legal ability and ethical standards that an attorney can achieve. It is awarded based on the reviews and comments of Judges and attorneys.
In July 2012, I was named by Florida Trend Magazine as one of Florida’s Legal Elite. I am additionally and proudly a Fellow in the trial lawyer honor society, the Litigation Counsel of America and a Charter Member of its Trial Law Institute and Diversity Law Institute. The LCA is an invitation-only organization of less than one-half of one percent of all attorneys in America. It is dedicated to ethics and professionalism in the practice of civil litigation.
My practice focuses on business/commercial litigation. Business/commercial litigation includes such matters as contract disputes, business torts, theft of trade secrets, UCC consumer claims, license and franchise agreement litigation, creditor’s rights, corporate governance issues, and dissolutions, to name a few. I also litigate real estate contract and land-use disputes, commercial mortgage foreclosures, special asset prosecutions, commercial landlord/tenant disputes, and represent clients in securities and commercial arbitrations, bankruptcy adversary cases, and independent actions in probate.
As a result of litigating agreements and business disputes, I have the unique advantage of hindsight and bring that knowledge and experience to bear in providing counsel to businesses on their liability exposure and in drafting documents such as operating and shareholder agreements, contracts, non-compete/non-disclosure agreements, and other important documents.
I am licensed to practice in all trial and appellate courts in the State of Florida, including the Florida Supreme Court. I am also authorized to practice before the Federal and Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida and the Eleventh Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. I am a member of the Palm Beach County Bar and its North County Section. I serve on the Professionalism and Business Law Continuing Education Committees of the Palm Beach County Bar.
I am also a member of the Bar of the U.S. Supreme Court and am licensed before the U.S. Court of International Trade and the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. I formerly proudly served as a Captain in the U.S. Army JAG Corps where I represented service members in courts-martial and administrative hearings.
I earned my law degree from the University of Miami and my Bachelor’s from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. I speak Japanese, some Korean, am an Eagle Scout, and a former Rotary International Scholar to Japan. I enjoy scuba diving, underwater photography, and golf.
